The Corvallis/OSU Bike Co-operative is a friendly place in Corvallis, Oregon that serves as a convenient place for people to gather and build and maintain bicycles (and other human powered conveyances). Here you can salvage parts for an affordable price, buy an entire bike, or participate in our build a bike program where you volunteer to help build a bike for us and a bike for yourself out of salvaged parts we provide. The co-op strives to re-use components and fabrication of new parts to foster innovative transportation. We regularly hold bike classes on many topics of interest. It's also a fun place to hang out to teach and learn from other bicyclists.
Please also see our other webpage, follow us on twitter and facebook. And, if you want to find what the board oranization is up to (and especially if you want to get involved), please become a member of our google group.
Community Activism
The whole gamut of human powered transportation includes the responsibility to interact with the community at large. This ranges from promoting bicycle safety and use by active bicyclists, to canvassing the city government for more human powered initiatives, be that bike lanes everywhere or ordinance to mandate covered bike parking in apartments and major public gathering places. (The library already has some covered bike racks. We need more.)
A place to start is to see what currently ignites us in 'Bike Activism forum'.
